Cultural Humility in Clinical Practice

Overview:

The goal of this workshop “Cultural Humility in Cultural Practice” is to discuss the concepts of cultural humility and cultural competence when working with diverse clients. Workshop participants will learn to develop culturally appropriate clinical practices and address perceptions and processes that serve as a barrier to treatment with diverse communities.

Objectives:

• Workshop participants will be able differentiate between cultural competence and cultural humility.
• Workshop participants will be able to identify at least three cultural barriers in clinical practice when working with diverse populations.
• Workshop participants will be able employ at least one effective communication model when engaging with diverse clients.

When do I receive my certificate of completion?

Certificates of completion will be awarded at the end of the workshop day to participants who meet our requirements. We will determine conference attendance using zoom registration and evaluation forms. You will be required to complete a workshop evaluation at the end of the workshop. PDF certificates of completion will be emailed to participants within 48 hours of the workshop. If the workshop is on a Friday, please allow 72 hours for your certificate of completion.

Credentialing Information:

This course is approved for 2 NBCC Clock Hours (LPC, LAC, LCADC, CADC, LMFT, LAMFT) of continuing education (NBCC Provider  SP_4323). Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Storeyhouse Counseling and Consulting, LLC as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 08/09/2023 – 08/09/2024. Counselors completing this course receive 2 cultural competence continuing education credits.
